Among the recently invented anti-counterfeiting technologies, one adopts a “discoloration” pigment. These additives contain a multi-layered polymeric light-reflective coating that is applied around a reflective aluminum chip to allow the color of the PET to change with viewing angles. The change in color, such as from red to green, is due to the interference of light waves reflected from different pigment layers. Color-changing pigments give PET consumer products a significant aesthetic effect, and because these effects are not easily cloned, they also have anti-counterfeiting capabilities. One way to identify whether a PET part is from a factory is to mix the Pet Preformwith the pigment or dye and analyze the exposed and UV areas with a spectrometer. The pigments or dyes will show a unique pattern. Even if the counterfeiters use very similar colors on their pet preforms, they can’t get the same spectrum as the real ones.
2, particle identification
The purpose of developing miniature logos was to help track the source of explosives in the event of a major event, but today it is widely used to track and identify the authenticity of PET products. The most typical particle identifications are those with a specific resolution function or polymeric particles containing a specific chemical composition which can be premixed with thermoplastic PET prior to molding. The marked particles are often mixed with the PET powder in advance so that it can be used for molding or concentrated, and molded while being diluted. The color strip micro-marking on injection molded, extruded or rotationally molded PET parts can be clearly discerned by scanning with a microscope or pattern reader. Some manufacturers make the logo fluorescent or magnetic, so that the authenticity can be easily discerned with an ultraviolet illuminator or with a magnetic scanner.
The diameter of the particles is less than 50 microns (corresponding to the size of the bacteria), and the size of the particles is about 600 microns (equivalent to the size of the salt particles), which is not the same. These microparticles are inert and usually do not react chemically and can withstand the high temperatures of the molding process without damage. By transforming the number, type and color of each particle, or changing the chemistry of the particle surface, millions of different combinations of codes can be produced. Since the material contains coded particles, the manufacturer and product information can be identified with a special reading instrument.
